I have been an apprentice with Joanna
Howells since July 2014. Our partnership began by
chance, when visiting Joanna at her studio in South Wales. We started
talking about pottery (how strange) sharing few ideas and that’s it!! I
decided to move to South Wales and Joanna decided to “adopt” me as a
potter. Since then, it has been very intense working with Joanna,
learning a lot about glazes, firing, the combination of the two,
learning to throw new shapes, doing hand building, plaster making and
the list can go on and on… This has also given me the opportunity to
practise my throwing, making handles, experimenting with glazes,
helping with exhibitions and understanding a lot about marketing and
how the industry works.
I am enjoying being here with Joanna and it is a pleasure assisting Joanna with her work.
